Momo, one of the leading mobile social networking app in China, reported increased net revenues of 222% year over year to $99.0 million in Q2 2016 though its monthly active users were down to 74.8 million in June 2016 from 78.4 million in June 2015.

Momo’s net income increased 804% to $15.4 million in the second quarter 2016 from $1.7 million in the same period last year.

Live video feature on Momo ($57.9 million), together with mobile marketing ($16.6 million), drove a 222% year over year growth in our total revenues, reaching $99 million for the second quarter.

Membership subscription revenues were $15.6 million in the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 5% from $14.8 million during the same period of 2015.

In the second quarter of 2016, iOS continued to post year-over-year declines in urban China: 17.9% of smartphone sales in the period were iOS, a drop of 1.8 percentage points from 19.7% in the second quarter of 2015 according to Kantar.

iOS share decline has also pushed Apple behind Huawei (25.7%) and Xiaomi (18.5%) facing increased competitors from local smartphone models such as Huawei’s Mate 8, P9, Xiaomi’s RedMi Note 3 and Mi 5, and Oppo’s R9. iPhone SE only accounts for 2.5% of smartphone sales in Q2 2016.

Weibo’s monthly active users (“MAUs”) grew 33% year over year to 282 million in June 2016, 89% of which were mobile users according to Weibo Second Quarter 2016 Financial Results.

Weibo’s average daily active users (“DAUs”) in June 2016 grew 36% year over year to 126 million.

For the second quarter of 2016, Weibo reported net revenues of $146.9 million, compared to $107.8 million for the same period last year. Advertising and marketing revenue totaled $127.2 million, compared to $87.9 million for the same period last year. Advertising and marketing revenue from key accounts and small & medium-sized enterprises (SME) was $114.3 million, compared to $59.4 million for the same period last year.

Weibo is benefiting from the strong adoption of social marketing with key account and SME revenues growing 73% and 107% year over year, respectively, in the second quarter.
